Cross Country
High has a proud history in the GPS Cross Country competition, with recent highlights including 3rd place in both Junior and Intermediate division in 2026, 3rd in Opens and Intermediates in 2025, 2nd place finish in the 2019 Open division, an Open GPS Premiership in 2016, and an U16 Championship in 2015. Each weekend throughout the GPS season, students represent the school across the three divisions: Opens (Roughly 8km), Under 16s (Roughly 6km), and Under 14s (Roughly 4km).
In parallel, the program also offers a strong pathway through the CHS system. All Students have the ability to compete at the School Cross Country Carnival to earn a top 10 spot in their age group and compete at the Zone Cross Country Carnival. A top 10 place at Zone progresses an Athlete to the Sydney East Regional Championships and the NSW CHS State Championships. These events provide an inclusive platform for all runners to represent High beyond the GPS, and regularly feature outstanding performances from our athletes.
Across both the GPS and CHS systems, High Cross Country athletes demonstrate mental strength, physical endurance, and a shared pursuit of excellence. Most importantly, it is the mateship and sense of team that define the High Cross Country experience. Whether training at Centennial Park, competing on weekends, or travelling long distances to race, the camaraderie among runners is a constant source of motivation and pride.
